DO HORSES MAKE GOOD PETS?
Yes, miniature horses can make good pets. They are great  for people wanting something  a bit different. Their size makes them much more manageable than a full size horse and their temperament makes them more enjoyable than Shetland Ponies.

HOW BIG ARE YOUR HORSES?
They are around waist height. In fact one of our full size goats, is bigger than one of them.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CARE FOR A HORSE?
  • Clean water and food
  • Shelter in the form of a shed or trees
  • Worming every 3 months
  • Hooves trimmed every 6-12 weeks.
  • Lice treatment as required.
  • Regular handling including walking and brushing

AM I BETTER TO BUY A MALE OR A FEMALE HORSE?

If you are not planning to breed a desexed male (Gelding) will be cheaper than desexing a female and make a great pet. While females (Mare) can make good pets without being desexed, at times they can be quiet temperamental. A non-desexed male (Stalion) must not be kept as a pet, they should only be kept for breeding.

WHAT KIND OF FENCES DO I NEED TO KEEP HORSE IN?

Any of these options can work well.
  • Plain stranded wire fence
  • Electric fencing
  • Standard farm fencing i.e. rabbit netting with plain wires above
  • Post and rail style timber fencing

HOW OLD DO HORSES LIVE TILL?

Depending on  management and environment, many can live till around 25 to 30 year.
